My name is Niharika* and I am 28 years old. I had to leave school at the age of 13 in order to earn an income to help my family as we experienced a lot of financial insecurity. I used to do hand embroidery work at home and make greeting cards for an NGO. It was through them that I came to start making for Secret Projects 1 ½ years ago and learnt how to use a machine. I enjoy the feeling of being able to learn new things and earn and manage my own finances. As I now know how to use a machine, I can also make my own clothes and take on other stitching jobs for local customers in order to earn more. This gives me and my family more confidence for the future.
I was married five years ago but was never accepted by my in-laws because my father could not give a dowry. My husband left me and now I am determined to earn money so that I can complete my schooling and build myself up. This will prove to him that I am worth more.
I would like to welcome the customers of Secret Projects to come and meet us. I would like to encourage them to buy more of our products while thanking them immensely for what they have done so far. I plan to continue stitching and learning new designs and I hope that the unit never shuts down.
